Glossary
Imposition
Imposition is the arrangement of pages on a printing sheet. The pages are positioned so that when the sheet is printed, folded and trimmed, the finished piece reads in the correct order.
Why it matters
A studio that supplies single pages relies on the printer's imposition. A studio that supplies an imposed file takes responsibility for the page order and the fold.
Example
The printer imposes a 16-page brochure on a sheet so the sections nest and the page numbers run in order after folding.
