Glossary
Print-ready
A print-ready file is prepared to the printer's specification: the correct trim size, bleed, colour mode, image resolution, fonts and marks. It should not need further editing before plating.
Why it matters
A file that looks finished on screen can fail at the printer. Print-ready is a production check, not a visual judgement.
Example
The studio packages the InDesign file with the links and fonts, exports a PDF/X-4 with the correct bleed and checks it with the printer's preflight profile.
