Preflight
Preflight is a file check before a print job is released. It looks for missing links, unembedded fonts, RGB images, low resolution, missing bleed and other production issues.
Why it matters
Preflight catches the problems that are cheap to fix in the studio and expensive to fix on press. It should run before the client proof, not after approval.
Example
The studio runs the printer's preflight profile, fixes two low-resolution images and exports the PDF again.
