Overprint
Overprint is a print setting where one colour prints over another instead of leaving a white gap. It is used for small black text, registration marks and some spot-colour work.
Why it matters
An unintended overprint can make dark text disappear into a dark background. A missing overprint can leave a white halo around small type.
Example
The production artist sets black text to overprint on a coloured background to avoid a white edge from a slight misregistration.
