Dieline
A dieline is a technical drawing of a packaging structure. It shows the trim, the folds, the glue areas and the panels, and it is usually supplied by the printer or the packaging engineer.
Why it matters
The dieline decides whether the artwork folds into the right shape. A proof made on the wrong dieline can look correct flat and fail on the shelf.
Example
The studio places the artwork on the printer's current dieline and checks the copy on every panel before the packaging proof.
