Digital proof
A digital proof is a proof viewed on a screen or printed on a non-production device. It is useful for checking the copy, the layout and the page order, but it is not a reliable colour proof.
Why it matters
A digital proof is fast and cheap, but it can hide colour shifts and stock differences. The client should know what the digital proof does and does not show.
Example
The studio sends a PDF for a content review and orders a hard proof for the colour approval.
